Abstract
Groundwater pollution has become a serious challenge today, which is affecting the quality of our water resources. Due to rapid industrialization, urbanization, population growth, agriculture and modernization, chemicals and pollutants present in domestic waste get mixed in groundwater. As a result, serious diseases like typhoid, hepatitis, cancer are spreading. Due to groundwater pollution, the lack of clean drinking water and health related problems are gradually increasing. If the government and all of us do not become alert in time, then it may have to face serious consequences. Therefore, it is necessary to take immediate steps for environmental protection and control of groundwater pollution. Although, after the Stockholm Conference of 1972, India made policies and laws for environmental protection and also started moving in step with the world community, but these efforts are still not proving to be enough.
