Artificial Intelligence and the Marathi Language: Interrelationship

Abstract

When we hear the term ‘AI,’ several questions arise in our minds—what exactly is AI? In this universe, alongside the brain, God has given humans the ability to use it skillfully, and based on that strength alone, humanity has made significant progress. Many researches have been conducted. Computers, the internet, transportation tools, and much more have given our lives a new direction, and one such invention is Artificial Intelligence—a part of computing. Through this, any computer or machine can function like human intelligence. Due to this technology, machines can speak like humans, make decisions, predict many things, and perform many tasks more effortlessly than humans. For example, it develops like raising a small child. A small child learns a lot while interacting in society—language, speaking, behavior—all through imitation. Similarly, by providing a computer or machine with vast amounts of information, it can be taught. The more information we provide, the more the computer and machine learn and become smarter. In our daily lives, we use many applications related to AI. For instance, Google Maps, Snapchat, unlocking phones through facial recognition, etc. This technology is used in various fields. In the health sector for disease diagnosis, in digital marketing, in meteorological departments for weather forecasting, and even in the field of education. In the entertainment industry, it is effectively used for video development. How has artificial intelligence impacted Marathi literature? We will explore this.

The interdependence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Marathi literature is a rapidly evolving relationship characterized by the digitization, preservation, and revival of traditional literature, along with new creative production methods. AI serves as a tool to modernize access to Marathi's rich heritage, while Marathi literature provides the linguistic data necessary to train AI models for understanding regional languages.
