Abstract

Artificial Intelligence is becoming an integral component of modern governance. Since democratic systems are human-centric, value-based, and rely on citizens' active participation, the increasing use of AI raises not only technical challenges but also fundamental political and ethical questions. This research paper analytically examines the challenges posed by the use of AI in democratic governance on humanistic values such as freedom, equality, justice, human dignity, and accountability. Through Indian and global case studies, it critically reviews how AI can strengthen democracy as well as potentially weaken it. This study is entirely qualitative, theoretical, and example-based, and is presented with reference to Marathi literature.
