Artificial Intelligence and the Marathi Novel: Form, Challenges, and Opportunities

Abstract

In the twenty-first century, the technology of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is bringing fundamental changes to all spheres of human life. Its growing influence is also evident in literary creation and literary thought. This research paper studies the interrelationship between Artificial Intelligence and the Marathi novel. The focus of this study is on the impact of the concept of AI, along with components such as natural language processing and machine learning, on the form, narrative, storytelling style, and the very concept of authorship in the Marathi novel. A critical examination has also been made of challenges such as the boundary between human creativity, emotion, and mechanical production, ethical questions, intellectual property rights, and cultural identity. Alongside this, an exploration of opportunities such as digital archiving, global dissemination, multilingual translation, and new possibilities in research has been conducted. The conclusions drawn from this study suggest that Artificial Intelligence is not a threat to the Marathi novel; rather, if used judiciously, it can prove to be an effective complementary tool for literary creation and literary research.
