Abstract

A planar CPW-fed quad-port multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna with high isolation is proposed for ultra-wideband (UWB) applications. This antenna is printed on low-cost FR-4 substrate with dielectric constant of 4.3 and its overall size is 50 × 50 × 1.6 mm3. The measured results show that the operating bandwidth with 10 dB return loss is about 8.8 GHz (3.2-12GHz). High isolation of 20dB between four radiating elements is acquired by etching new strip structure on the substrate. Furthermore, the antenna has a simple planar structure, easy fabrication and low cost. Good radiation characteristics and acceptable peak gains are obtained over the operating bands. Good agreement between the simulated and the measured results can be observed
