Abstract
The rapid explosion of knowledge and technology in modern times has been accompanied by an equally urgent need for various skills—skills that empower individuals to solve problems, make decisions, maintain balance amidst challenging circumstances, and lead successful lives. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, a pivotal document in the contemporary educational landscape, acknowledges the significance of life skills in the holistic development of students. The policy accords a prominent place to life skills such as communication, collaboration, teamwork, and resilience. Recognizing life skills as an integral component of 21st-century competencies, the NEP 2020 emphasizes integrating life skill practices into education to foster the all-round development of the child. The mandatory inclusion of life skills in the NEP 2020 underscores their importance. This article attempts to shed light on the concept of life skills and their significance.
