Abstract
Rakesh Kumar Tripathi's Aadhunik Bharatiya Kavita Me Radha explores Radha’s evolution as a cultural and literary archetype through Dharamvir Bharati’s Kanupriya and Ramakant Rath’s Shri Radha. The book examines Radha’s transformation from mythological origins to a modern symbol of existential inquiry, love, and societal introspection.
Tripathi analyzes Radha’s portrayal as a figure of feminine strength in Bharati’s work and as an emblem of psychological depth in Rath’s poetry. Using the “Poem on the Page” methodology, he highlights the interplay of form, rhythm, and imagery while bridging linguistic and cultural gaps between Hindi and Oriya literature.
Despite some reliance on translations and the lack of a clear conclusion, this work is a valuable contribution to Indian literary studies, offering fresh insights into the adaptability of mythology in contemporary contexts.
