Abstract
This research paper defines 'Yoga' as a natural state of mind. By Yoga, the restless tendencies of the mind can be pacified and spiritual concentration can be achieved. In this study, the psychological and spiritual aspects of Yoga have been analyzed. By controlling the tendencies of the mind, one attains inner peace and natural awareness. The process of controlling the tendencies of the mind has been explained on the basis of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. Yoga paves the way to stabilize human consciousness at a higher level than normal. The relevance of Yoga in modern stressful life has been underlined. Physical, mental and emotional balance can be achieved through Yoga practice. Practical applications of Yoga have been highlighted in this research. In conclusion, Yoga provides relief from the disturbed state of mind and helps one attain naturalness.
