Abstract
Kalidas is one of the best poets of Sanskrit literature, whose works show a unique amalgamation of simplicity, grace, depth of emotions and imagination. His style is dominated by the grace and sweetness of the Vaidarbhi style, while the power of emotion is present in less quantity. His language is simple, interesting and free from the burden of embellishments, which reflects the skill of word selection and subtlety of expression. Kalidas has made the depiction of nature, character description and deep expression of emotions lively in texts like 'Abhigyan Shakuntalam'. Along with sentimentality, satire and brevity, phonetics is also present in his verses. His art of description is unique in parts like Shakuntala's beauty, Dushyant's hunting episode and Gandharva marriage. Kalidas's poetic style, despite being brief, is full of deep meaning, which instantly impresses the readers and listeners.
