Abstract

In Indian miniature painting, artists use the same techniques and materials. They usually draw on a piece of paper or on a special board. Sometimes they put a layer of white chalk on the wall before painting. Then they draw on top of that layer and start adding colours. Every artist has his own way of doing it. Some artists finish one section before moving on to another section while others add all the colours at once and correct any mistakes later. Before they begin, they place the painting upside down on a smooth stone and dab it with a special shell or stone. This makes the colours smoother and the picture looks better. The whole process depends on the use of good materials to make the picture beautiful and long-lasting.
