Abstract

Chhotu Ram, also known as Babu Chhotu Ram, was an important leader of the Indian freedom struggle. He was born on 24 November 1881. He was a prominent social and political activist who promoted awareness and struggle in rural India. His main aim was to protect the rights of farmers and raise voice against their exploitation. He worked towards several reforms for the development of Indian rural society. Chhotu Ram emphasized on issues such as irrigation system for farmers, sale of agricultural products at fair prices, and land reforms. He led several movements to bring reforms in the agricultural sector. Apart from this, he was also a member of the Indian National Congress and participated in the freedom struggle. He believed that real attainment of independence is not possible without improving the condition of rural India. His contribution is still remembered in Indian politics and society, especially due to the issues of farmer interests raised by him. His life is an inspiration, which took important steps towards awareness and social reform in rural India.
