Abstract
The realm of nature is vast and mysterious, intertwined with the environment. Humans are evolved and social creatures, so they seek knowledge and causes of natural phenomena. Children, being in the lap of nature, perceive natural scenes and understand them by seeing and touching them with their hands. To restore the currently declining environmental standards, we need to create environmental awareness among youth. Keeping this need in mind, the researcher decided to study the environmental awareness of undergraduate students. The objective of the study is to study the environmental awareness of undergraduate students by gender and region. The study is based on the survey method. The sample for this study was selected by lottery from 50 undergraduate students from each of the five colleges located in the metropolitan area of Shahjahanpur district and affiliated with Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University. This resulted in a total of 100 students selected as a sample. Of these, 54 were male and 46 were female. For this research, the Environmental Awareness Scale (EAS), developed by Dr. Praveen Kumar Jha, was used to measure environmental awareness among undergraduate students. The study concluded that there was a significant difference in environmental awareness between male and female students, while there was no significant difference between urban and rural students.
