Abstract

This research paper presents a sociological analysis of digital governance-related policies and initiatives in promoting local self-governance in the context of Panchayati Raj system in India. Leveraging secondary data from various sources including government reports, academic publications and socio-economic surveys, the study aims to highlight the role of digital governance-related policies and initiatives in community empowerment at the local level. The paper explores the role of digital governance-related policies and initiatives in empowering individuals and communities within the Panchayati Raj system, analysing access to digital platforms, skill development through technology and democratisation of decision-making processes. The study concludes by providing a comprehensive view of the changes brought about at the local level by digitalisation.
